SHELAGH GRANDPIERRE

Beginning in London in the 1970’s, Irish born Shelagh Grandpierre, has studied Tai Chi for over 30 years. An instructor member of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain, (TCUGB), she has taught professionally since 1990. In 1994 and 1995, she attended residential courses in the USA taught by Yang Zhen Duo, 4th generation Yang Style Tai Chi successor. Having studied with several teachers over the years, 1994 saw her begin her studies with Christopher Pei, marking a turning point in her Tai Chi development. In 2000 she travelled to China to study with Yang Zhen Ji, the oldest living 4th generation successor to Yang Style Tai Chi.

Since 1995, Shelagh Grandpierre has sponsored twice yearly seminars in the UK taught by Christopher Pei, which have grown successfully to become a major event in the UK Tai Chi calendar. Her writings have featured in American publications: Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Journal also in the Dutch Tai Chi Magazine. She is a regular instructor at Tai Chi Caledonia, a prestigious annual event in the Scottish Highlands, and teaches weekend courses throughout the UK, Ireland, Scotland, Belguim and Mexico.  In 2006 she was invited to join the executive committee of the TCUGB.
